Module 3

Throughout this module, I further explored my experience with p5.js and learned how to 3D scan objects and even people, and learned how to fix models using a combination of Meshmixer and Cinema 4D. I also learned about Reflexive Selfies, specifically in relation to the numerous biases that are present in design.

Final Project 3 Design

For my final p5.js Facemesh design [View Here], I created a symbolic selfie mask that represents my relationship with inner and outer beauty. The features of the mask constantly switching represents my habit to constantly observe the people around me and their features that I envy and appreciate over my own. Other elements within my design such as the beauty blender symbolizing a tear drop, beauty magazines flashing in the background, and the cosmetic surgery markings represent society’s always changing, unreachable beauty standards that women today are constantly battered with, just by opening up social media and seeing influencer after influencer promoting the next best skin care or makeup product and why its so “essential”. The final element is the camera being hidden which hides the user’s face and all surroundings. This element represents the isolation and need to hide that many people can feel when they are in a mental state of self consciousness.
